Babar Azam is among the top 5 batsmen in the world at present: Rashid Khan

The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to go all guns blazing from February 20 onwards in Karachi. Meanwhile, a lot of talented prospects will be looking forward to making a statement in the T20 league.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan top spinner Rashid Khan made the headlines when he mentioned that he looks forward to bowl against Pakistan captain Babar Azam. In his recent interview, the Afghan added that Azam is among the top 5 batsmen in the world.

Babar Azam has been consistent across formats and the manner in which he approached the game with notable performances in the last few years has been admirable. The Afghanistan spinner also added that he really enjoys very much bowling against world-class batsmen like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, AB de Villiers.

Rashid said Babar has been consistently scoring runs in the last 4 or 5 years in all three formats and which is why the Afghanistan spinner thinks Babar is among the top 5 batsmen in the world at present.

“The kind of performances he [Babar Azam] has given in the last four or five years in all three formats, he is among the top five batsmen in the world at the moment,” said Rashid Khan in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

I and Babar Azam are good friends: Rashid Khan

The young spinner further added that he and Babar share a great camaraderie with each other. Rashid also added he enjoys the challenge of bowling to the world-class cricketers. As far as IPL is concerned, Rashid said he loves bowling to AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith so that he will know what areas he needs to work on.

At the same time, Rashid added that it will be a tough challenge to play against Babar. “I enjoy the challenge of bowling to the top players. Like in IPL, when I bowl to Ab de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith, it shows me where I stand as a bowler and what I need to improve.

I played against Babar in Asia Cup, and I also played alongside him for Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL, so we are also good friends. It will be a tough challenge to play against him, as the margin of error is very low against a top batsman like him, he added in a statement.
