Azhar Ali approaches an unwanted record with yet another duck

Pakistan's former Test captain Azhar Ali recently continued his terrible run of form in Test cricket with a duck in the first innings of the First Test against Bangladesh.

The 36-year-old, who has been a mainstay in the top 3 for Pakistan in test cricket for the past ten years, has joined an undesirable list in test cricket. Azhar now has the third highest number of ducks in the top 3 in test cricket history. This was Azhar's 17th duck while making the top 3 in Test cricket and his 18th overall.

Former Sri Lankan captain Marvan Atapattu and former England captain Mike Atherton are the only two players to register more ducks than Azhar while beating in the top 3. Atapattu also has 17 ducks on his name while playing in the top 3, but it took him fewer innings to hit the undesirable milestone. Atherton, on the other hand, tops the list with 20 ducks in his name.

Considered one of the best Pakistani batter in test cricket history, Azhar has had a great testing career since his debut in 2010. The veteran batter has not had a solid performance lately, however, which puts his place on the side under scrutiny.

The experienced top-class batsman has scored 469 runs averaging 39.08 in 8 tests he has played so far in 2021. Although he scored two half centuries and a century in that time, he was also fired 3 times for a duck.
