KABUL: Afghanistan will play three one-day international matches against the Netherlands in Qatar next month, the country's cricket board announced on Wednesday.

The ODIs will be part of the International Cricket Council's Super League, which will serve as qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup.

"The three-game ODI series begins on January 21st, with the second and third games played on January 23rd and 25th, respectively. All three games will be played at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Doha, Qatar," said ACB in a statement.

Afghanistan took 30 points after Ireland clearly won 3-0 in the first series in January under the ODI Super League, which counts towards qualifying for the 2023 World Cup.

The series against the Netherlands is the second mission followed by the third - in Zimbabwe between January and February. The Netherlands have 25 points in the Super League in four games so far.

Afghanistan is expected to host Australia and Pakistan and then travel to India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their three away series in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League by 2023.

The Super League is a tournament with 13 teams that takes place over two years and decides which teams qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023. India, host of the 2023 World Cup, and the other seven best Super League teams qualify automatically.

According to the ACB, Afghanistan will receive Australia and Pakistan and then travel to India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their three away series in the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League by 2023.
