Former Punjab Kings pacer Anureet Singh announced retirement from cricket

 

The Delhi-born Anureet Singh has announced his retirement from cricket by sharing a post on his official Instagram account. Anureet Singh has featured in 72 First-class games and 85 List A games where he scalped 249 wickets and 85 wickets in his span of 2008-2021.

The right-handed pacer made his first-class debut in 2008 against Karnataka while representing Railways and scalped 6 wickets after being wicketless in the first inning of the game.

After that, the 34-year-old went on to represent Baroda and Sikkim in domestic cricket. In the Indian Premier League, the veteran right-arm pacer represented Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

He featured in 23 games and got 18 wickets under his belt with the best figures reading 3 for 23. Moreover, he has taken 64 wickets in the other T20 tournaments with the best figures of 3 for 12.

Anureet Singh announced his retirement by posting on his official Instagram handle in which he wrote, "Since Childhood, I always wanted to be a Cricketer.

It has been an incredible cricketing journey since I was 16 years old when I joined Subhania Cricket Club based in Delhi. It was just like dream coming true while I got an opportunity to play for Indian Railways in the Ranji Trophy game against Karnataka during Indian Domestic Season 2008."

"I would like to thank my captain & mentor Sanjay Bangar (Sanju Bhaiyya, Abhay Sharma Sir & Murali Karthik (Katy Bhaiyya), my coaches Radhe Shyam Sharma Sir, Devinder Bisht Sir, Rajan Sachdeva Sir for guiding & mentoring me which I feel really played a vital role not only in my cricketing career but also in the personal life as that support and guidance helped me in becoming a type of person I am today," wrote Anureet Singh.

"I would also like to thank BCCI, Western Railway, Northern Railway, Indian Railways, Baroda Cricket Association, Sikkim Cricket Association along with IPL Franchise Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, and Kolkata Knight Riders including management & Support Staff for providing me an opportunity to represent them," he further added.
