T20 World Cup: Pakistan is favorite for the trophy, says Faf du Plessis

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis believes Pakistan is the favorite to win the T20 World Cup in 2021 but hopes New Zealand can win the mega-event as the Black Caps were recently on the verge of being an ICC -Trophy to be won, but it escaped from it. “Pakistan is the favorite to win but I hope New Zealand can go all the way. They [New Zealand] have been so close to bagging an ICC trophy in recent years so I hope they can win it, "Du Plessis told a local broadcaster.

Faf du Plessis believes the Pakistani cricket team will lift the T20 World Cup trophy in 2021. Du Plessis added that he hopes the New Zealand side can win the tournament as the Kiwis have come this close several times but failed to get their hands on the trophy.

Du Plessis also highlighted the South African team's performance in the tournament. The 37-year-old said winning 4 out of 5 games in the Super 12 stages is an outstanding achievement and the Proteas should be proud of their achievement. Du Plessis also thinks that the South African bowling attack is one of the best at the 2021 T20 World Cup.

“Pakistan is the favorite to win but I hope New Zealand can do it. They [New Zealand] have been so close to bagging an ICC trophy in recent years, so I hope they can win it. Winning four out of five games is a huge accomplishment that the team can be proud of. The bowling session was exceptional and it is not wrong to say that it was one of the best attacks of the tournament, ”said du Plessis in an interview with a local broadcaster.

I had an idea that I'm not considering for the T20 World Cup: Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis also said that he knew he was not eligible for the 2021 T20 World Cup, despite having done extremely well in the IPL. Du Plessis concluded by saying that he wants to do what he wants, which is to travel the world and play cricket.

“It's not my decision, but I had the idea that I would not be eligible for the T20 World Championship. I was expecting it when I wasn't selected for the Sri Lanka tour. My expectations were that I would not go to the World Cup, even though my performance in the IPL was exceptional.

For me, it's about doing what I like, which is playing cricket, and I have the opportunity to play all over the world. It's a question that is very difficult for me to answer with a yes or no, but the fact that I haven't been to the T20 World Cup suggests no, ”concluded Du Plessis.
