Is this India’s best ever outing in Australia

India have ended their long tour of Australia on a high note as they won the decider and third game of the ODI series by three wickets.

India started their long tour of Australia during November last year with the shortest format of the game. The T20I series ended in a draw as the final T20I was abandoned due to rain.

But India had a clean sweep in their previous outing in Australia for only limited overs fixture with a win of 3-0 in the T20I series. So there was nothing bigger to talk on the T20I series even though rain spoiled another party for India.

India’s biggest hungry during every Australian tour is to win a Test series in Australian soil. India had to wait for 71 years of time since the commencement of first Test series in Australia to achieve that milestone. Virat Kohli became the proud captain as he is the first ever Asian captain to do so in the Australian soil.

The all-around show from the Indian players was the key to this biggest achievement. In the previous outings, India went closer to the series victory during 2003 and 2008. But their previous two outings were tragedic. The 2-1 win in the Test series has put a strong pillar for India’s no.1 position in the ICC Test Rankings and they will enter into the ICC Test Championship with being in the top position.

After winning the Test series, India had a disappointing start to the ODI series at SCG. However, they made a good comeback at Adelaide Oval and came into Melbourne to conquer the ODI series. This ODI series win is the first ODI bilateral series win for India in Australia. Previously they won an ODI series in 2008 in the form Tri-series between Australia, India and Sri Lanka.

The first and foremost reason for India’s historic tour in Australia is the perfect balance in the team. Especially India had a perfect combination in the bowling department with everyone in their peak form, what India failed to obtain in the last ten years. In the previous two outings, bowling was the biggest headache for India.

Another important aspect was the combined team effort from players. This time India hadn’t depended on one or two players. All the players delivered for the team at different points and that made the task a lot easier for India. In the previous tours, it can’t be fair to say that this kind of team effort was seen.

So all these things made a dream tour of Australia for India. The tour provided enough recipes for India’s long hungry to perform better in Australian soil. So it can be fair to say that this tour could be India’s best outing in Australia, maybe the best one can come in next outings also.
