Watch: Virat Kohli's animated celebration after Glenn Maxwell reaches fifty

Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played a masterclass knock in the ongoing match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. He came to the crease when they had lost a couple of wickets in the second over.

With the skipper of the Bangalore franchise got out cheaply, Maxwell had a huge response on his shoulder. Though Kohli might have departed early, he was seen happy when Maxwell reached his fifty.

The right-hander was seen in good touch since the very first ball. His team had already lost two wickets when he came to the crease. But, he put the pressure back on his opponents with his destructive batting.

The Australian batsman registered his half-century off just 28 balls by nudging a single to long-on. He is living up to the price tag as he became the leading run-getter in IPL 2021.

He was well set to reach his century but mistimed the short ball which was delivered by his Australian teammate, Pat Cummins. During his knock of 78 off 49 deliveries, he smashed nine four and three sixes.

Soon after losing Maxwell's wicket, the wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers started launching an attack on the KKR bowlers. AB de Villiers' unbeaten knock of 76 off 34 helped them to post a total of 204 on the board.
