Watch: Jos Buttler escapes a serious injury after getting struck by Pat Cummins on the helmet

 

The England wicket-keeper batsman, Jos Buttler is currently representing Rajasthan Royals in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Till now, he has aggregated 89 runs for his side in the ongoing competition.

In the last game against Kolkata Knight Riders, Jos Buttler has been struck on the helmet in the second over of Pat Cummins. The incident took place in the send innings of the game while chasing a target of 134 runs posted by the opposition. 

Rajasthan Royals already lost their star bowler Jofra Archer who has been ruled out of IPL 2021. Following it, they also lost the services of Ben Stokes as the latter got injured in a game against Punjab Kings.

Moreover, another England cricketer, Liam Livingstone, has been pulled out his name from the competition and flew back to his home country due to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year.

Kolkata Knight Riders struggle in the first half:

After winning the toss, the skipper of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson asked the opposition to bat first. They executed their plans very well in the powerplay overs as they restricted them below 30 runs.

Shubman Gill has been sent back to the pavilion by Jos Buttler who made him run out while he was trying to grab a quick single. Nitish Rana, Sunil Narine and Eoin Morgan were also returned to the dugout in the following overs with the numbers of 22, 6 and 0 respectively.

Then Dinesh Karthik joined with Rahul Tripathi and played a vital knock in the middle. Still, both of them came back to the dressing after scoring 25 and 36 runs to their name. In the end, KKR posted 133 runs on the board which is below par score for any team at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rajasthan Royals ended up on a winning note:

Chasing the target of 134 runs posted by Kolkata Knight Riders, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave a good start to Rajasthan Royals before the English cricketer being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy for 5 runs.

Jaiswal followed Buttler in the next over of Shivam Mavi after hitting a boundary off the previous delivery. Then Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube made a crucial partnership in the middle and added 45 runs for the 3rd wicket.

After the departure of Shivam Dube and Rahul Tewatia, David Miller took the responsibility along with the captain and finished the game for his side. Now, they have to face Rohit-led Mumbai Indians in their upcoming encounter on Thursday.
