IPL 2021: Strongest Playing XI Of Mumbai Indians

 

Mumbai Indians is one of the toughest teams in the Indian Premier League. They have won the title five times and will look to continue the same momentum in this tournament as well.

The likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have made it difficult for the opposition team to win the game. Moreover, with some new names on the ranks, the Rohit-led side looks more dangerous for this season.

They are going to play the opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9. So, Let's have a look at the strongest playing xi ahead of the IPL2021.

Openers:

Rohit Sharma

Without any doubt, Rohit Sharma is one of the best openers of the modern era. He can go through any best bowling and can chase any big total at ease. He is a nightmare for the opposition bowlers who can score runs from the start of the game.

Moreover, he is considered the best captain in the history of IPL. The 33-year-old is the 4th highest run-getter in IPL who has amassed 5230 runs that he played at an average of around 32. 

Quinton de Kock

The South African batsman Quinton de Kock will continue to open the innings for Mumbai Indians along with his skipper Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians bought the left-hander from Royal Challengers Bangalore during the trade ahead of IPL 2019.

After that, de Kock becomes a regular name in the Mumbai Indians line-up and has piled 500 plus runs in the last two seasons. According to his form, Rohit Sharma will let the left-hander open the innings for his team.

Middle-order:

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav was once a routine fixture in the Kolkata Knight Riders team. But the franchise decided to drop him ahead of the IPL Auction 2018 where he was bought by Mumbai Indians for an amount of INR 3.20 crores.

He was promoted by Rohit Sharma to play at the top-order which changed his game as he scored more than 400 runs in the last three seasons. Surya is expected to continue his form in the upcoming edition as well.

Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan joined with Mumbai Indians after he was bought by the franchise for a whopping amount of INR 5.5 crore in the IPL Auction 2018.

The latter has been consistent with the bat in the previous season which held in UAE and scored 516 runs at an average of 57.33 with a strike-rate of around 150. With his enormous batting skills, he can accelerate the run-rate during the middle overs of the game.

Kieron Pollard

The Mumbai Indians side is incomplete without this man in the list. Since 2010, Kieron Pollard has been with the team and has given everything he had. The tall man can score runs at a brisk pace at any moment of the game.

Moreover, he is one of the best fielders on the side along with the skipper Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. The 33-year-old has been phenomenal with the bat in the last edition as he scored 268 runs at an average of 53.60 with a staggering strike-rate of well above 190.

Pollard is a nightmare for the opposition bowlers once he gets into bat in the middle overs.

All-rounders:

Hardik Pandya

The flamboyant Baroda all-rounder will do the late hitting along with Kieron Pollard and co. Pandya can go through any best bowling line-up in the slog overs and can finish the game like his teammate Kieron Pollard.

In the 13th edition of the league which was hosted by UAE, the latter went on to score 281 runs that he played at an average of around 36 and had a strike-rate over 170s. 

Krunal Pandya

Krunal Pandya is the elder brother of Hardik Pandya who was scalped by Mumbai Indians during the player auction in IPL 2016. He has given the best he had and been one of the consistent players of the team.

The 30-year-old has scored 1000 runs in IPL and has picked up 46 wickets with the ball as well. He would look to better his numbers in the upcoming season.

Bowlers:

Rahul Chahar

Rahul Chahar is the cousin of the CSK pacer Deepak Chahar. He was bought by the franchise in the IPL Auction 2018 for a price of INR 1.9 crore but didn't play a single match during the league.

In the last two season, Rahul Chahar has plucked 28 wickets maintaining the economy rate well below 8. 

Jasprit Bumrah

The No.1 fast bowler of the Indian team, Jasprit Bumrah is the go-through man for Rohit Sharma at any moment of the game. He can clear any best batting line-up and can contain the run-flow whenever he comes to bowl.

Moreover, Jasprit Bumrah got married to the anchor Sanjana Ganesan this month. He was the leading wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians in the previous season as he bagged 27 wickets with an economy rate of 6.73.

Trent Boult

New Zealand's leading pacer Trent Boult has been traded by Mumbai Indians with Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2021. Boult went on to dominate the opposition with the ball and bagged 25 scalps in the previous edition of the league.

He has the ability to take wickets in both powerplays and slog overs of the game. Mumbai Indians pace attack very dangerous with the deadly combo of Bumrah and Boult. 

Piyush Chawla

Another Kolkata Knight Riders player on the list named Piyush Chawla. He represented the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the last season and now joined with the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2021.

Piyush Chawla has picked up 156 wickets in his IPL career and will continue to dominate with the ball in the upcoming edition as well.
