IPL 2021: Ricky Ponting believes that captaincy will make Rishabh Pant a better player

The former Australian captain Ricky Ponting is currently serving the Delhi Capitals franchise in IPL as a head coach of the team. Ricky Ponting has his say after the management of Delhi Capitals announced Rishabh Pant as their new captain ahead of the 14th edition of the league.
Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of IPL due to an injury during the 1st ODI between India and England. Rishabh Pant who has been appointed as the new captain is the youngest player in the upcoming season to lead the side.
Admitting it, Ricky Ponting come up with a tweet on his official Twitter handle and said "Unfortunate that Shreyas will miss the tournament, but looking forward to seeing @RishabhPant17 grab his opportunity. It's well deserved for his recent performances and he's coming in with a lot of confidence. I'm convinced captaincy will make him an even better player."

Rishabh Pant after being appointed as the captain of Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals announced on Tuesday that Rishabh Pant will lead the side in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. After that, the 23-year-old took the Twitter handle and said "Delhi is where I grew up, and where my IPL journey began six years ago. To lead this team one day is a dream I've always harboured. And today, as that dream comes true, I feel humbled.
I am truly grateful, especially to our team owners, who considered me capable enough for this role. With an amazing coaching staff and a plethora of accomplished seniors around me, I can't wait to give my absolute best for Delhi Capitals."

Following his tweet, Shreyas Iyer who has been ruled out of the IPL has said "When I sustained the shoulder injury, and Delhi Capitals needed a leader for this edition of the IPL, I had no doubt that Rishabh would be the best man for the job.
He has all my good wishes to make amazing things happen with our absolutely incredible team. I'm going to miss the team tremendously and will be cheering for them throughout."
Delhi Capitals reached the finals against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020 under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and lost the game. Let's see how the newly appointed captain does his job in his first match against the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings on April 10 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
