IPL 2021: Nitish Rana tested negative for COVID-19 and will KKR camp soon
The left-handed batsman Nitish Rana who represents the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the Indian Premier League has tested negative for COVID-19 for the upcoming league.
He joined with KKR on March 19 after tested negative for COVID-19. But two days later, the 27-year-old was tested positive ahead of the league. On April 1, the latter was tested negative after an official statement by Kolkata Knight Riders management.
"Nitish Rana had checked into the KKR team hotel in Mumbai, on March 21, 2021, with a negative COVID report which was done on March 19, 2021. As per IPL protocol, he was tested on March 22, during his quarantine and the report showed that he was positive.
He has had no symptoms and has been completely asymptomatic since. Again as per IPL protocol, he isolated himself and was tested again today. We are glad to report that he has tested negative. We expect him to start training with the team shortly and be fully fit well before the start of the season," Kolkata Knight Riders states.
What's next for Nitish Rana?
The 27-year-old will be preparing himself ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League after recovering from the health issues. It is worth mentioning that Nitish Rana came to the IPL platform with the Rohit-led Mumbai Indians in 2016.
In 2018, he joined with the KKR side after being released by the franchise. He played vital knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders in the middle-order and cemented his place in the team. He ended up the previous season hosted by UAE with the numbers of 352 runs from 14 games that he played at an average of 25.14.
The left-handed batsman would look to give the best from him to help the franchise clinch the IPL Trophy for the second time. They have to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first game of IPL 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 11.
