Dinesh Karthik survives from Andre Russell's powerful shot

 

Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders didn't have a good time in the previous editions held in United Arab Emirates (UAE). They failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished at the fifth position on the points table.

During that edition, the Tamil Nadu based cricketer Dinesh Karthik gave up his leadership role to the experienced English cricketer Eoin Morgan after his poor performances on several occasions.

However, it didn't go well as Morgan too failed to lead the side to the playoffs as they won 7 out of 14 games they played in the league. Kolkata Knight Riders have won two titles in IPL during Gautam Gambhir's leadership in the 2012 and 2014 season.

The Knight's have started their preparation ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The incident took place during an intra-squad game at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Shubman Gill was the captain of one team whereas Ben Cutting led the other one. Gill's team batted first and posted 175 runs Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer with 90 runs.

During the innings, Dinesh Karthik was fortunately missed himself being hurt by the powerful shot that came from the West Indies batsman Andre Russell's bat. Ben Cutting's team chased down the target quite comfortably in the second innings with the likes of Tim Seifert.

KKR's first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad

The two-times champions Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on 11th April at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both the teams faced each other in 19 games where Kolkata has won 12 and Hyderabad won 7 out of them.

The Morgan-led side has bagged some experienced spinners from the auction named Shakib-Al-Hasan and Harbhajan Singh who is expected to lead the spin attack if he gets a chance to play. Let's see how KKR going to perform in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
