IPL 2022: Two franchises aimed for Chris Gayle's name to be included in the mega auction list

 

The most awaited final list of players for the mega auction of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has been out. After sorting out more than 1000 players, a total of 590 cricketers have made it to the list.

The mega auction for IPL 2022 will be held on 12th and 13th February in Bangalore. However, one of the favourite players of this format, Chris Gayle is not available for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. Considering the reports from Cricbuzz, two franchises wanted Chris Gayle's names in the pool for the mega auction.

But things didn't go favour to them as the Caribbean legend has decided to withdraw his name from the list. Along with him, the English all-rounder Ben Stokes and the Australia pacer Mitchell Starc have also withdrawn their name from the auction pool.

In the list of 590 cricketers, a total of 370 Indian cricketers will go under the hammer of the 12th and 13th February whereas the rest of them will be overseas options for the franchises.

As we all know that this edition of the cash-rich contest will witness 10 teams with two new added franchises Lucknow Super Giants and Ahmedabad (official name to be revealed soon).

Moreover, both the teams have made their retentions ahead of the contest as Lucknow roped KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. Coming to the Ahmedabad franchise, they have retained Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill ahead of the contest.

Both the franchises have announced their skippers as Lucknow will be led by the newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya who is going to lead a team for the first time in his career. On the other side, KL Rahul has a plethora of experience and has led Punjab Kings and the Indian team as well.
