IPL 2022: Taskin Ahmed likely to join with Lucknow Super Giants as a replacement of injured Mark Wood

The upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League has already seen a plethora of players pulling out their names from the league due to bio-bubble fatigue and for other personal reasons that cannot be ignored.

In that case, the newly added Lucknow Super Giants side which is led by the Karnataka batsman KL Rahul will not have the services of the English pacer Mark Wood who has sustained an injury.

So, Lucknow Super Giants management is looking for the Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed who was likely to join the squad ahead of this tournament.

On that matter, a source claimed that Gautam Gambhir wants him in the team and has said, "I want Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed in the team and that is for the whole season. If he agrees to the offer, Taskin will have to leave for India before the next two Tests against South Africa."

Considering the reports from Cricbuzz, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman Jala Yunus said, "Since we have two important series like the ongoing home tour of South Africa and the home series against India, we feel it won’t be right for him to take part in the IPL."

"We have spoken with Taskin and he has understood the whole situation. He informed the franchise that he is not playing the IPL and will be available for the South Africa tour and later will return back home," he added.

"We are expecting him to be available in the third ODIs unless his family members’ situation turns very critical. This is a crisis for him and he will be allowed to come whenever he wishes because family comes first.

We are in constant touch with him. He might miss the Test series if situation is such, but we must remember that he is going through a crisis and we need to back him," said Yunus.
