"I actually wanted the bidding to stop" - Deepak Chahar

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have roped the upcoming star Deepak Chahar in the mega auction of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. The right-arm pacer has caught a plethora of bidders in the two-day event and has been bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping price of INR 14 crores.

Apart from CSK, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were the other teams who wanted to buy Deepak Chahar in the mega auction. Deepak Chahar has groomed under the likes of MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo and a few others in the CSK camp.

Moreover, he has also gained some new lessons from the premier pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while bowling along with them in the nets. In addition to that, he has been the go-to man for MS Dhoni, especially in the powerplay overs of the game.

In a recent interaction with Star Sports, the right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar has shared a few words and said, "I wanted to play for CSK because I haven’t imagined myself playing in another colour than yellow. At one point, I thought it (bidding price) was too much.

As a CSK player, I also want to build a good team. So after they spent ₹13 crores, I actually wanted the bidding to stop so I can go to CSK quickly, and then we can buy some other players."

Moreover, Deepak Chahar also shared his conversation with N Srinivasan the owner of the team and said, "I’ve never spoken about all this to Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) or CSK management."

"In 2018, I had met Srinivasan sir, and he has said, ‘you will play in yellow always’. So I took his word that day and since then I have never spoken about retention. I knew CSK would bid," he added.
