5 players who are going to miss IPL 2021 for injury issues
The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence on 9th April. A plethora of players has joined with their respective franchise ahead of the IPL 2021. Moreover, they started their practice and interacting with their fans by posting some of the training session pictures on the social media platform.
Besides, on one end many players joining their franchise camps whereas on the other side, few players have been ruled out and few have will miss the first half of the cash-rich contest.
Some of them have been injured in the ongoing series between India and England as few names in the list have been added from the series. So, let's have a look at the five cricketers who are going to miss the IPL due to injury issues.
5. Sam Billings
The English wicket-keeper batsman who previously played for the Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings has bought by Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 2 crore in the IPL Auction 2021. Sam Billings has been injured during the 1st ODI against India where he sprained his collar bone while diving at the boundary line to stop the ball. This incident previously happened to him before the ICC World Cup 2019 which ended up his dream of representing his nation on the big stage of the tournament.
4. Jofra Archer
The leading pacer of the England team will miss the first part of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. After completing the T20I series against India, Jofra Archer went back to the United Kingdom ahead of his elbow issue which made him struggle in the ongoing series. According to that, he will miss the first half of IPL which is a big disappointment for Rajasthan Royals as he is the star player for the franchise during the previous edition of the league.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja is regarded as one of the best fielders of the Gentlemen game. At a time, he was a regular fixture for India in the limited-overs format. He suffered a left thumb injury during the tour of Australia and hasn't seen it in the action so far. Jadeja has joined the CSK camp but still everyone doubting his left thumb as he is undergoing 7-day quarantine ahead of the IPL 2021.
2. Eoin Morgan
England team's limited over skipper Eoin Morgan will miss the upcoming edition of IPL. During the 1st ODI against England, the left-hander got injured like his teammate Sam Billings while fielding as he spilt webbing between his thumb and index finger in the right hand which ended up in stitches. Kolkata Knight Riders will be thinking of a replacement for the English batsman ahead of the IPL 2021.
1. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer has become a regular fixture for Team India in the limited-overs format. He has the elevation to up the run-rate during the crunch situations of the game. However, he has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the cash-rich contest as he picked up an injury during the first match against England. After Sam Billings and Eoin Morgan, Shreyas Iyer was the third player to be injured during the game. Considering his injury, Delhi Capitals would be looking for a better captain who can lead the franchise ahead of the IPL 2021.
