T20 World Cup 2021: "Why they did not select Chahal and why they benched Ashwin" - Salman Butt

The former skipper of the Pakistan cricket team, Salman Butt has come up with a statement about Team India's loss in the first match against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

He claimed that every team needs fast bowlers who can bowl quick or should have quality spinners who can bowl according to the conditions. He also feels that India has talented bowlers who can bowl well but come to the playing conditions, they are not good enough according to him.

"India have a good pool of players but in conditions like Dubai, you ought to have people who can bowl 140+. You need to have 2-3 options. Medium pacers are not successful here.

You need to have perfect spinners or pacers who can clock 140+ consistently unless they are all-rounders. India have quick bowlers but they didn't select them. And it is not just 140 kmph, it should be quicker as well," quoted as same as in Sportskeeda.

Moreover, he also said a few words about Australia and Afghanistan's bowling attack and claimed "Australia have three solid pacers. Afghanistan have three excellent spinners. India have Ashwin and Jadeja. Only India can explain why they did not select Chahal and why they benched Ashwin."

"India should go with Shardul Thakur" - Salman Butt

Shardul Thakur

Salman Butt shared his view on Team India's bowling attack during the Q & A session on his YouTube channel.

He was questioned about dropping Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Hardik Pandya ahead of the next match against New Zealand, he replied "If they are unfit, then India should go with Shardul Thakur. Shardul Thakur has a habit of taking wickets at regular intervals.

He also has the capacity to score runs. He batted brilliantly in England. So I think he can play. Chahar, if he is in the squad, is also a good option. He was in the CSK team. I think he is good enough to bowl. These two players can bat well also."

However, India is all set to play their next match against New Zealand on 31st October at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. Hardik Pandya has cleared the fitness test and started practising in the nets for the upcoming match against the Kiwis.
