Scotland fans took a sly dig on Mahmudullah during a press meet

 

Bangladesh and Scotland had a thrilling encounter in the 2nd match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Talking about the match, Bangladesh won the toss and asked the opposition to bat first.

Bangladesh got a good start to their innings as they removed Kyle Coetzer and Matthew Cross for cheap. George Munsey looked good on the other end but been sent back to the dugout for 29 runs by Mahedi Hasan.

The middle-order of Scotland also failed to contribute and been dismissed for cheap numbers. Then Chris Greaves and Mark Watt played a crucial inning in the middle and added 51 runs for the 7th wicket. At the end of the innings, Scotland posted a decent total of 140 runs on the board.

Chasing the target of 141 runs, Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar opened the innings for Bangladesh. However, they failed to give the expected start and been removed by Bradley Wheal and Josh Davey.

Then Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim added some vital runs on the board before being dismissed by Chris Greaves for 20 and 38 runs respectively. Mahmudullah and Asif Hossain also tried their level best but couldn't go over 30 runs.

In the end, Scotland defeated Bangladesh by a margin of 6 runs and registered their first victory in the tournament. After that loss, every one a lot of fans had a debate about Bangladesh that whether they could qualify for the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup.

Moreover, during a press meet, the skipper of Bangladesh had a few words about their first loss and the fans of Scotland took a dig at him.

"I think the wicket was quite good and 140 was gettable. We were missing that one big over in the middle. Bowlers did their job really well but the batting unit weren’t good enough tonight.

(If Bangladesh were complacent when Scotland were 53/6) Don’t think so, we were just one wicket away. Credit goes to their batters, they had a good finish," Mahmudullah said when asked about the match.

"Yeah, when you can’t chase 140, there needs to be a look-in, need to correct the mistakes. We still need to be positive and figure out where we made mistakes, and not try to repeat them. Beautiful wicket to bat on, fantastic ground and crowd, we need to pull our socks up and play better cricket," Mahmudullah added.
