Harbhajan Singh is likely to announce his retirement and might join this franchise ahead of IPL 2022

 

One of the finest off-spinners of Team India, Harbhajan Singh is likely to announce his retirement from all aspects of the game in the coming week. After announcing his retirement, the 41-year-old spinner might join the backroom of any franchise ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

In the previous edition of the tournament, the right-arm off-spinner has been with Eoin Morgan led Kolkata Knight Riders where he doesn't get enough games to get back his flow.

Harbhajan Singh was one of the finest spinners in the history of the Indian Premier League since the inaugural edition in 2008. The 41-year-old has featured in 163 where he stuck 150 wickets at a decent average of 26.87 and has an economy of 7.08.

The veteran off-spinner has represented India in 103 Tests, 236 ODIs and 28 T20Is where he scalped 417, 269 and 25 wickets respectively.

However, considering the recent reports from News18.com, the source claimed, "The role could be that of a consultant, mentor or part of the advisory group but the franchise with which he is talking are keen to use his vast experience. He will take an active part in also helping the franchise decide on their auction picks."

Moreover, he is always known for guiding youngsters towards their game likewise he did with Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and recently with Kolkata Knight Riders' Varun Chakravarthy.

The Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has also been one of the youngsters who got some guidance from the Turbanator. "Look, Harbhajan wanted to make a formal announcement of his retirement after the season is over. He has had extended talks with one of the franchises which has shown keen interest but he would like to talk about it only when the deal is formally inked," the source added.
