Aakash Chopra names his top five Test bowlers of 2021

 

The former Indian cricketer and cricket expert Aakash Chopra has come up with his top five best Test bowlers of 2021. Before talking about that, Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the finest spinners that India has ever produced.

He has scalped three five-wicket hauls in this year and been one of the backbones for their victories on many occasions. With fabulous performance on many occasions, Ravichandran Ashwin has got a place in Aakash Chopra's top five best bowlers in Test cricket of this year.

Aakash Chopra named his top five best Test bowlers of 2021 on his YouTube channel video where he said, "Ravichandran Ashwin – he is there. He has picked up 52 wickets in eight matches, he didn’t get to play a single Test against England in England. He was good in the Sydney Test against Australia and the WTC final was also not that bad. He was absolutely sensational in India."

After picking Ravichandran Ashwin, Aakash Chopra named the legendary pacer James Anderson who is one of the finest pacers produced by England, especially in the longest format of the match.

"Jimmy Anderson’s name is there in this list. 32 wickets in 19 matches, he has played in Sri Lanka, India, and at home. He was exceptional in the first Test against India at Chennai, took a five-wicket haul in Sri Lanka as well," Aakash Chopra added.

Mohammed Siraj

At number three, the former Indian cricketer named another English pacer named Ollie Robinson who is currently doing well for England in the longest format of the game. Ollie Robinson made his Test debut against New Zealand on 2nd June and become one of the regular fixtures in their set-up.

"Ollie Robinson – he has taken 28 wickets in five matches. His stature is growing. Some of the old issues came to the fore, but he just fought through it, and he has done very well," Aakash Chopra claimed after mentioning his name.

Another growing bowler has made it to the list with the name of Mohammed Siraj, who is doing well for the Indian team in both Tests and T20Is. On picking Mohammed Siraj, Chopra explained, "I have put Mohammed Siraj’s name in this list. 28 wickets in nine matches, he gave a fantastic performance at Lord’s, good performances in Sydney and Brisbane. He has been continuously doing well. I like his attitude, he makes the ball talk off the surface."

At all, Aakash Chopra picked his number 1 Test bowler of 2021, naming Pakistan's lead pacer Shaheen Afridi. The left-handed pacer is one of the consistent bowlers for Pakistan who provides breakthrough whenever his team wants from him.

While mentioning him, Aakash Chopra explained, "I am picking Shaheen Shah Afridi as the No.1 Test bowler for 2021. 47 wickets in nine matches at an average of 17. He has been sensational, there was a time where he was taking a five-wicket haul in every match."
