4 Indian cricketers for whom the T20 World Cup 2022 could be last if they fail to perform

On 12th September, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad which will fly to Australia ahead of the marquee event, the T20 World Cup 2022. After completing the T20I series against South Africa, Rohit Sharma and his men flew to Australia and are currently engaged in the warm-up games ahead of the mega event. After announcing the 15-member squad, Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out after being injured during the South Africa series. The Indian team management has selected both Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the mega event and we can expect the same combination as well. However, the Indian selectors had an issue while selecting the players as the fans of other cricketers named Mohammed Shami, Sanju Samson, Deepak Chahar and a few more want them to get back into action in the Indian team. Despite dropping these cricketers, the current Indian team led by Rohit Sharma still looks strong and is one of the top contenders for the T20 World Cup 2022.

The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer who is considered one of the legendary cricketers in the longest format of the game has worked hard to make a comeback into the Indian squad for the limited-overs format. The Indian selectors have gone through his fabulous statistics and the experience he has in this format will help Rohit Sharma to contain runs during the middle overs of the game. With an economy rate of well below 7. the right-arm off-spinner could be a game-changer for the Indian team in this mega event. However, the 35-year-old would be dropped from the side considering his age.

Another Tamil Nadu-based cricketer is on the list named Dinesh Karthik who has made his comeback into the side after a long time. Dinesh Karthik has looked in red-hot form in this edition of the Indian Premier League and has been backed by the Indian selectors ahead of the T20 World Cup. As of now, Dinesh Karthik has cemented his place with consistent performance with the bat and will continue his role as a finisher in this mega event as well. Likewise Ravichandran Ashwin, the wicket-keeper batsman could also be dropped considering his age, and 37-year-old.

One of the finest pacers of modern-day cricket, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is well known for his swing and containing runs in the death overs of the game. The right-arm pacer has the capability of taking wickets and can contain runs in the powerplay overs of the game. However, the fans will miss the combination of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar who have done this for a quite long time. Known as the King of Swing in modern-day cricket, it might be Bhuvneshwar Kumar's last appearance as he has been in and out of rhythm which we witnessed in the Asia Cup 2022.

Rishabh Pant has been one of the finest cricketers and is expected to lead the Indian side after Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. However, the left-handed batter has been in and out of the side after the comeback of Dinesh Karthik who is doing well in the shortest format of the game. Moreover, Team India will look to consider him as a Test batter as his records in T20Is haven't been good when compared to Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan. In addition to that, Rishabh Pant would not be the first-choice batter in the line-up as the in-form Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Dinesh Karthik were doing well.
