Watch: What a dramatic finish to the first PSL return match

 

The Pakistan Super League has made its come back after a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The PCB decided to postpone the competition after witnessing the rising number of cases in the franchise. After a long time, the tournament has been resumed without any interruptions on 9th June.

Talking about the game, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars faced off each other in the 15th match of the league. The skipper of Lahore Qalandars, Sohail Akhtar opted to field first after winning the toss. The opposition side didn't get the expected start as they lost their top four batsmen in between seven overs and had scored 50 runs on the board.

The Australian all-rounder James Faulkner came out of the syllabus and scalped three important wickets of Colin Munro, Rohail Nazir and Shadab Khan. Islamabad batting order didn't do enough and posted a decent total of 143 runs on the board.

The final over drama:

Chasing the target of 144 runs, the skipper of the side, Sohail Akhtar gave a flying start to their innings as he went on right from the first over of the game. But Fakhar Zaman and Muhammad Faizan failed to contribute with the bat and departed with the numbers of 9. Then Muhammad Hafeez joined with the captain and added some important runs in the middle overs.

However, Islamabad bowlers alley once again give the breakthrough for their side and sent both the set batsman back to the dressing room. Now came the dramatic final over as they needed 16 runs with Rashid Khan on the strike.

He smashed the first ball towards the boundary rope and continued the same trend of the next two deliveries bowled by Hussain Talat. Then 4 runs needed off three balls and Rashid Khan took two off the fourth ball and a single of the last second. Tim David took the last run and Lahore Qalandars won the match with 5 wickets in hand.
