Watch: Sri Lanka's Dhananjaya de Silva gets dismissed hit-wicket in a funny way

 

The first Test between Sri Lanka and West Indies has kicked off on 21st November, Sunday at the Galle International Stadium in Galle. The hosts, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided that they'll bat first.

Pathum Nissanka and Dimuth Karunaratne opened for their side and gave the start that the team expected from them. Both the batters added 139 runs for the first wicket partnership before Pathum Nissanka got dismissed by Shannon Gabriel for 56 runs.

Then Roston Chase picked back to back wickets of Oshada Fernando and Angelo Mathews to get back his team in the game. However, the skipper got good support in the middle from Dhananjaya de Silva who partnered with him and added 111 runs for the fourth wicket.

After that, Roston Chase once again gave the breakthrough by dismissing the well-settled Dimuth Karunaratne for 147 runs and Dinesh Chandimal for 45 runs. Then the other bowlers take care of the lower-order and bowled out the opposition for 386 runs. Roston Chase scalped 5 wickets for West Indies.

Summary of the first innings of West Indies:

After cleaning out the opposition for 386 runs, Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood opened the innings for West Indies. Both the batters got a good start to their innings but failed to convert it to the big ones.

Lasith Embuldeniya removed Jermaine Blackwood when he was batting on 20 runs. Following that, Praveen Jayawickrama removed Nkrumah Bonner for 1 run. The skipper Kraigg Brathwaite who was looking good on the other end has also been sent back to the dressing room by Ramesh Mendis for 41 runs.

He continued his spell and went on to pick more two wickets of Shai Hope and Roston Chase, as both the batters returned to the pavilion with the numbers 10 and 2. Then Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder built a crucial partnership in the lower-order for their team.

Both the batsmen scored 45 and 36 runs before being dismissed by Dhananjaya de Silva and Praveen Jayawickrama. At the end of Day 3, Rahkeen Cornwall stood strong on the other end with Joshua da Silva and has scored 33 off 45 balls. Besides, during the Sri Lankan innings, Dhananjaya de Silva has been dismissed comically.
