'So you want me to sit out?' - KL Rahul irked after journalist question's whether Virat Kohli should open for India

KL Rahul-led Indian side met Afghanistan in the Super Four on 8th September, Thursday at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. Talking about the game, Team India were ordered to bat first by the hosts as they opted to bowl.

Batting first, India posted a humongous total of 212 runs on the board. The moment of the game came when Virat Kohli smashed his 71st century after waiting for a long time. The Indian stalwart remained unbeaten on 122 runs as his fabulous inning consisted of 12 fours and 6 sixes.

Chasing a huge total on the board, Afghanistan got the worst start to their inning, as they lost half of the side under 10 overs of the game. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been extraordinary with the ball as he scalped 5 wickets while conceding just 4 runs in his spell.

Ibrahim Zadran was the only batter who scored 64 runs with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes under his belt. Hence, India defeated Afghanistan by a margin of 101 runs and ended up the tournament on a winning note.

Virat must be pleased with his batting: KL Rahul

After winning the game, the skipper of the Indian team, KL Rahul shared a lot about Virat Kohli's performance in the post-match conference. During the conference, KL Rahul hilariously answered "So, what do you want me to do- sit out?" after being asked whether the former Indian skipper will open the innings for India in the upcoming games.

"Virat scoring runs is a huge bonus for us. He must be pleased with his batting. He has been working on his game since the last 2-3 series and it has come off beautifully.

If you play 2-3 innings like this, you get confidence. Happy he could play that way," KL Rahul was quoted as saying in the post-match conference by India Today.

"It is not like he can hit hundreds only when he is opening. If he can bat at number three then also he can score centuries and it is about the role the team wants him to play. Today he played his role beautifully. He will play his next role in the next series with good performances, no question mark about that," he added.

"The desire and passion to win matches for his country have always remained the same for him. But, we are obsessed with numbers. His contributions over the last 2-3 years are still phenomenal. He is still among the top two or three run-getters in white-ball cricket," the 30-year-old said.
