SA vs BAN: Watch - 8 umpiring decisions went wrong against Bangladesh during the Durban Test

The first Test between South Africa and Bangladesh has been played at the Kingsmead in Durban. If we take a look at the match, the visiting side won the toss and asked the hosts to bat.

South Africa posted a quite challenging total of 367 runs in their first innings with the help of Dean Elgar's 67 and Temba Bavuma's 93 runs respectively.

Khaled Ahmed was the top performer with the ball for Bangladesh who scalped 4 wickets for his team. In the first innings of Bangladesh, they failed to go over the total posted by the opposition and ended up for 298 runs.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy was the top scorer, having scored 138 runs and Liton Das also displayed some good show by coming down the order and scoring 41 runs for his team. Simon Harmer picked 4 wickets for South Africa followed by Lizaad Williams 3 wickets.

Many controversial decisions were overturned during the 1st Test:

There have been a lot of decisions that have been given favourable to the South African team by the on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Adrian Holdstock.

Both the umpires have made questionable decisions that favoured the home team as the Bangladesh side was not one of the best when it comes to the DRS system.

However, some of the rules have been changed by ICC (International Cricket Council) in 2020 and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they allowed the local umpires to stand in for their nations' games.

The same has been seen during their previous Test series against India when the side toured South Africa for a three-match Test series and lost the series due to the same reason.

Top-class players like Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and a few more were not happy with the decisions made by the on-field umpires, as few of them went favourable to the home side.

Besides, Bangladesh lost the first Test against the hosts by a huge margin of 220 runs and will be looking to make a strong comeback in the upcoming match that is scheduled to play at Port Elizabeth on 8th April, Friday.
