IPL 2022: Watch - Hardik Pandya smashes consecutive boundaries after getting hit by Umran Malik's 140kph bouncer on the helmet

 

On the 11th of April, Monday, Sunrisers Hyderabad competed with the unbeaten Gujarat Titans in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Talking about the match, Kane Williamson, the skipper of SRH won the toss and decided to take the field.

Mathew Wade opened the innings for Gujarat Titans along with Shubman Gill. Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the first breakthrough for his side by sending back the man in-form Shubman Gill for just 7 runs.

Then Sai Sudharsan came out to bat but couldn't long as T Natarajan removed him when he was batting on 11 runs. As wickets fell on, the skipper finally decided to come out and play a crucial inning for his team.

In the end, Gujarat Titans posted a quiet and challenging defendable total of 162 runs with the help of Abhinav Manohar's 35 and Hardik Pandya's unbeaten half-century.

Gujarat Titans' first loss in this tournament:

Chasing the target of 163 runs, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings and were given the start that their team expected from them. Both the batters added 64 runs for the opening wicket partnership before the left-handed batter was dismissed by Rashid Khan for 42 runs.

After that, Rahul Tripathi joined his skipper and continued where Abhishek Sharma left. However, while smashing a six off Rahul Tewatia, Rahul Tripathi has got hurt himself and returned to the dressing room.

Then Nicholas Pooran took the charge and both the batters continued to dominate the opposition bowlers. Kane Williamson smashed his first fifty in this edition of IPL by playing an unorthodox shot off Lockie Ferguson over the wicket-keeper's head.

After his dismissal, Aiden Markram came out to bat but he doesn't have to take many risks as Nicholas Pooran started to take over the Gujarat bowlers and finished the match by smashing a six off Darshan Nalkande's first ball of the final over.

With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their second win and on the other hand, this is the first loss for Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans this season.

Moreover, during Gujarat Titans' inning, Umran Malik bowled a 140+kph bouncer to the opposition skipper Hardik Pandya that got hit on his helmet. But the Baroda all-rounder responded very quick and smashed the young gun for back to back boundaries in the same over.
