Virat Kohli rewrites the congratulatory tweet for MS Dhoni
With his spectacular finishing skills that helped his side win the first qualifier of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and advance to the final, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni went to Twitter to thank CSK's beloved Thala.
Team India's mentor will be MS Dhoni when they play in the T20 World Cup later this month in Dubai.
MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first, taking into consideration the atmosphere of the stadium and the previous performance of CSK. Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw, Delhi Capitals' renowned openers, got the team off to a fast start. Shaw, on the other hand, seemed to be a man on a mission and refused to allow the CSK bowlers to relax.
At the end of 34 balls, Shawa had scored 60 runs with seven fours and three sixes. DC was reduced to 80/4 in 10 overs after losing a flurry of wickets. After that, Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant put up an impressive fifth-wicket stand of 83 runs. In 35 balls, the DC captain hit an undefeated 51 runs to help his team reach 172/5 in 20 overs.
CSK responded by losing their star opener Faf du Plessis to a superb inswinger from Anrich Nortje in the opening over. During the second-wicket partnership of 110 runs, Robin Uthappa hammered DC's bowlers for fun and blasted a superb fifty with Ruturaj Gaikwad.
After hitting 63 runs in 44 balls, Uthappa was bowled out by Gaikwad, who went on to score another fifty runs in the IPL 2021 and pass the 600-run milestone. After hitting five fours and two sixes in 50 balls, he was bowled out for 70 runs. After Gaikwad's dismissal, MS Dhoni entered the fray to complete the game. IPL 2021 qualifier 1 saw MS Dhoni – the finisher on the show as he hit three successive fours to put Chennai Super Kings (CSK) into the final with a four-wicket victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
