West Indies will host ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in 2022

The ICC announced the schedule for the 2022 U-19 World Cricket Championship, which will be held in the West Indies, on Wednesday. The competition consists of 14 countries, 48 ​​matches and is being hosted by the Caribbean nation for the first time in the history of the tournament. The 2022 ICC U-19 Men's Cricket World Cup starts on January 14th and ends on February 5th. In a statement, ICC Event Director Chris Tetley said: "The ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup is so exciting and special that it brings together the future stars of the game and gives them an unparalleled experience of competing on the global stage."

"We look forward to the 2022 edition to see who emerges as future stars," he said. "We are delighted that the West Indies are hosting this event and wish all teams the best in preparing for the tournament and Cricket West Indies organizing the event," he added.

According to the ICC press release, ten venues will be used for the tournament and will be held in four Caribbean countries; Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.

It's also worth noting that Scotland replaced New Zealand in the tournament. The Blackcaps cannot participate due to mandatory quarantine restrictions for minors in their country that they would have faced on their return trip from the tournament.

There will also be four groups in the tournament. Defending champion Bangladesh plays in Group A alongside England, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. India plays in Group B with South Africa, Ireland and Uganda.

Pakistan is in Group C and is placed with Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Papua New Guinea. Host West Indies play in Group D with Australia, Sri Lanka and Scotland.
