Pakistan pacer Usman Shinwari has announced retirement from Test cricket via Twitter

 

The left-handed pacer from Pakistan, Usman Shinwari announces retirement from the longest format of the game. The 27-year-old has featured in only one Test match for Pakistan against Sri Lanka in 2019.

Usman Shinwari took the Twitter handle to announce his retirement from the Test format and concluded that he wants to prolong his cricket career in the other formats. In his tweet, he added that he has made a comeback from his back injury and his doctors have advised him to leave the Test cricket to avoid any further injuries in the upcoming days.

"Thanks to @sportsphysiojav ALHAMDULILLAH I have made my comeback again from back injury and now I am absolutely fit but due to my Doctors and physio advises I have to leave Long format to avoid such injuries in future and prolong my Cricket career.I am Resigning from Red ball," tweeted Usman Shinwari.

The left-arm quick has represented Pakistan in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is where he picked 34 and 13 wickets respectively. Moreover, he has featured in 33 first-class matches where he bagged 96 wickets at an average of 26.84 and the best figures reading 6 for 66.

However, his last outing for Pakistan came against Sri Lanka in 2019 in an ODI match where he picked a wicket by giving away 41 runs in his spell. He made his debut for Pakistan in 2013 but failed to cement his place in the team.
