Paarl, Cape Town, hosted the ODI leg of the India tour

Paarl and Cape Town will host the ODI series with three games between South Africa and India in January 2022. The first two games will be played on January 19 and 21 at Boland Park, followed by the series finale on January 23 in Newlands. the three-game series will not be part of the Super League of the Men's World Cup, but will be played as a bilateral series.

As ESPNcricinfo reported earlier this week, Newlands will also host the third test, which will take place January 11-15. The tour begins with the Boxing Day Test at Centurion, with Johannesburg taking the second test from January 3rd as part of a rejigged tour.

The four T20Is, which were also part of the original schedule, will be "postponed to a more convenient time in the New Year," according to a CSA press release.

There were doubts about the tour over the Omicron variant of Covid-19 discovered in South Africa, which coincided with a surge in cases and hospital admissions, particularly in Gauteng Province, where India is slated to conduct the first two tests.

The Netherlands had recently canceled their tour of three ODIs and flown home as many countries, particularly within the European Union, had imposed travel restrictions on southern Africa.

CSA had also postponed three games of the fourth round of the four-day Division 2 games after some players tested positive. The one-day games, due to take place on December 16, have also been postponed to 2022.

However, India A's squad touring South Africa has stayed in the country for three four-day games in Bloemfontein. The third game began on Monday.

When exactly BCCI and CSA agree to play the four T20Is remains to be seen, as another T20 World Cup is approaching in 2022 and both teams already have a busy schedule for 2022.
