India vs New Zealand 2021: Virat Kohli becomes the only player to take part in 50 wins in all formats

Skipper Virat Kohli reached another milestone when India defeated New Zealand in Mumbai.

India Test captain Virat Kohli is the only player to have participated in 50 international victories for India in all three formats. He achieved the feat after India beat New Zealand in the second Test with 372 runs at Wankhede Stadium. With this victory, the team is again at the top of the ICC test ranking. Meanwhile, Kohli has taken part in 50 test wins, 153 ODIs and 59 T20Is while representing India.

"Congratulations, Virat Kohli, the first player to win 50 international wins in every format of the game," tweeted the BCCI.

India decimated New Zealand, winning the second Test with a record-breaking 372 run margin to win the two Test series 1-0, with comeback man Jayant Yadav cleaning up the bottom half of the visiting team here on the fourth morning on Monday. Punctually at 10.13am, 43 minutes before the start of the day, Ravichandran Ashwin (4/34) benefited from a reflex stump from Wriddhiman Saha and also completed his 300th wicket on Indian soil to end the process in a jiffy as New Zealand were all off for 167 in 56.3 overs.

The win margin is India's highest ever on home soil. For a team that fought hard in Kanpur, the addition of jumping and cornering posed familiar problems for the Kiwis in a game they will remember for Ajaz Patel's 10-wicket exploits.

“I think it was good to finish the series as the winner, was close in Kanpur, couldn't get the last wicket, had to work hard here. That result seems one-sided, but we've had to work hard throughout the series, "said India coach Rahul Dravid after the demolition. It's great to see the guys move up and take their chances," he added.Continuing day 4 at 140/5, thugs Rachin Ravindra (18) and Henry Nicholls managed to add just 22 extra runs to the total in a single day before the previous one was scalped by Jayant Yadav and the guests on the barrel, however, it takes 378 runs to win with only 4 wickets in hand.

On his next over, Jayant Yadav sacked Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee and it appeared the hosts would end the game before lunch on Day 4. The two ultimate wickets also fell in quick succession and in the long run New Zealand was thrown for 167, giving the hosts a victory with 372 runs.
