Former Mumbai Indians player Rajagopal Sathish claims he was offered to fix matches

 

Rajagopal Sathish, a player who has represented the various franchises in the Indian Premier League has come up with an interesting statement. The 41-year-old has opened up about an incident when he was offered INR 40 lakhs for fixing the matches in the Indian Premier League.

Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Sathish has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and the then Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the cash-rich contest. Moreover, he has also played a few games in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

Regarding the issue, Sathish filed a case and also reported to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC). The right-handed all-rounder has played 67 T20s where he scored 722 runs that he played at an average of 19 and got 24 wickets under his belt.

Shabbir Khandwawala, the chief of the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has also opened up about this issue and said, "The player approached us and ICC, and informed us that someone had approached him on Instagram.

We took details of the case and told our ACU officer to file a police complaint in the matter. We are just a facilitator and now police will look into the case," Shabbir Khandwawala was quoted by The Indian Express.

Rajagopal Sathish lodged a police complaint which states that a person named Bunny Anand had offered the cricketer INR 50 lakhs for fixing the matches in IPL.

"On January 3, a person named Bunny Anand contacted Sathish on Instagram and messaged him luring to pay Rs 40 lakh and told that two players have already agreed to the offer. Sathish said that he said ‘sorry’ to the offer," states the police complaint.

Having a look at his IPL career, the 41-year-old has featured in 34 matches where he managed to amass 270 runs that he played at an average of around 16.
