"For someone who used to bowl using Harbhajan Singh’s action in school, to surpass him on the highest wicket-takers" - Abhinav Mukund

Arguably, one of the finest spinners of the modern era, especially in Test cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved another feat under his belt. The right-arm off-spinner became the third-highest wicket-taker for India surpassing Harbhajan Singh's 417 wickets in the longest format of the game.

He achieved this remarkable feat during the first Test against New Zealand on 29th November, Monday at the Green Park in Kanpur. However, the match resulted in a draw as Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel played a crucial role for New Zealand as the team struggled to face the Indian spinners on the Kanpur track.

Both the batters played survived almost 10 overs against the Indian spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. In the end, they somehow managed to draw the match after the on-field umpires decided to end the day due to the bad light issues.

After that, Abhinav Mukund who played alongside the veteran off-spinner has lauded him for achieving the feat. He took the social media platform named Koo and expressed his feelings and wrote, "For someone who used to bowl using Harbhajan Singh’s action in school, to surpass him on the highest wicket-takers list is truly phenomenal. Congratulations Ravi Ashwin on yet another achievement, wishing you many more!"

During the first Test against New Zealand, the 35-year-old has contributed well with both the bat and the ball and gave all he had for his team. He scalped 3 wickets in both innings and didn't allow the batters to overwhelm him during the game.

After the completion of the match, a lot of current and former cricketers praised Ashwin for achieving this milestone. Moreover, the current head coach of the Indian team, Rahul Dravid also lauded the 35-year-old for his milestone and stated that he is evolving after every match he plays.

You don’t achieve what Ashwin has achieved without growing and improving and evolving. It is a pleasure to have someone like him in the dressing room and to work (with). I am really happy for him," Dravid was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
