Australian hitter Maxwell may miss the Pakistan tour due to a long standing marriage

All-rounder Glenn Maxwell is unsure whether he will do the Australia tour of Pakistan in March-April, as he and his fiancée are planning their long-postponed wedding at that time.

Maxwell and pharmacist Vini Raman were engaged in March 2020 but had to postpone their wedding several times due to Covid-19 bans and restrictions. The 33-year-old would be one of the first to be selected for Australia's limited overs games against Pakistan between March 29 and April 5, following a series of three Tests in the South Asian nation.

“I think it's great that we got a tour to go back to. I think I saw it was 1998. Last time we were there, ”he told reporters on Tuesday. “Whether or not I go there probably depends on my fiancé because my wedding is supposed to take place during this time. So I'm probably not the right person to ask that question. "

When asked if his fiancée might consider postponing the wedding again, Maxwell said, “Not a chance. We've postponed it a couple of times so I think it is. ”Australia will face Pakistan in the T20 World Cup semi-finals in Dubai on Thursday to claim their first global tournament title.

While at his best during the Indian Premier League, Maxwell didn't have the kind of destructive racket innings at the World Cup that Australian fans crave. In the last two games, however, he had no chance and remained unbeaten in the two wins against Bangladesh and the West Indies without goals.

"I'm not sure you noticed, but I have two non-consecutive outs, which is pretty rare in my career," he said with a laugh.“That means the top order goes really well when I'm not spending so much time outside. "I was in really good headspace so (I'm) hopefully not required again, or hopefully required for another zero, and just stick to the other end."
