IND vs SA: Ishan Kishan gives a fitting reply to reporter's question after 2nd One-day

The left-handed batter Ishan Kishan showed fabulous hitting against South Africa during the 2nd One-day game at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi.

While chasing the target of 279 runs posted by the opposition, Ishan Kishan smashed 93 runs from 84 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 7 sixes. On the other side, Shreyas Iyer was seen absolutely well on another end, remaining unbeaten on 113 runs by smashing 15 fours.

With the help of these two, India won the match with 7 wickets and more than 15 balls in hand. During the post-match conference on Sunday, Ishan Kishan shared a lot about his batting and heaped praises on his six-hitting ability.

"Kuch players ka strength hote hai rotate karna…kinhi ka chakka maarna….mere jaisa koi chakka bhi utna jaldi nahi maar pata hai. Mai bahot aasani se maarta hu.

(For some players, rotating the strike is their strength….for others, to hit sixes…..not many can hit sixes as early as I do. I hit them with ease.)" Ishan Kishan was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

I don’t think of rotating that much: Ishan Kishan

Following that, the 24-year-old also said, "That is my strength. Hitting sixes. So if I can do my bit by hitting sixes then I don't think of rotating that much.

But yes, there’ll be innings where rotation would be required when wickets would fall from the other end. Practising for that is also important. But if your strength is hitting sixes and you get the ball to do so then you don't need to rotate. Just hit a six."

Moreover, Ishan Kishan opened up about his feelings after not being part of the big team which was led by Rohit Sharma. He was once a regular fixture who opened with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul since the T20 World Cup 2021.

However, he was dropped from the side after KL Rahul's comeback and also not picked by the selectors ahead of the upcoming mega ICC event, T20 World Cup. "It's obviously a bad feeling when you are not part of a big team when you are not part of a big tournament which will give you good exposure.

When you help your country win at the World Cup, that is a different feeling altogether. But I think there would be some shortcomings that the selectors would've noticed. Some improvements required from my end. If I've hit 7-8 sixes today I know I have the capacity to hit 9-10 as well," said Ishan Kishan.

"Right now if you look at the team (for the T20 World Cup), everyone is doing really well. The batters.... the middle order, the openers, they're all doing really well. So I'll wait for my time.

I want to have that confidence within me when my opportunity arrives that I feel I've prepared fully for it and I can help the team win. When that self-belief comes then I'll say I'm ready for my place in the team," the 24-year-old added.
