KKR's Tim Seifert has to stay in India as he tests positive for Covid-19

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has been postponed by BCCI. They already postponed yesterday's game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore as Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were tested positive for the deadly virus.

Today, the Delhi Capitals' experienced spinner Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderabad's wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha have also tested positive of COVID-19.

Considering the ongoing situation, BCCI has suspended the IPL and are looking to conduct the final leg of the competition in September before ICC T20 World Cup arrives. Moreover, Chennai Super Kings' batting coach Michael Hussey has been tested positive for Covid-19.

The new entrant to the list is Kolkata Knight Riders' wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert, who tested positive for Covid-19 and has to stay in India.

The story as it happened:

Tim Seifert has been bought by Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL Auction 2020 and retained ahead of the 14th edition of the league.

As per the reports given by New Zealand Cricket, the left-handed batsman will be transferred to the same hospital in Chennai where CSK's batting coach Michael Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji were getting treatment for the deadly virus.

The New Zealand cricket stated that "Once Seifert has undergone treatment and the statutory period of isolation and has tested negative for COVID-19, he will be transferred back to New Zealand where he will undergo the mandatory 14-day period of managed isolation."

The Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket, David White had shared few words about Tim Seifert and said "It's really unfortunate for Tim and we'll do everything for him that we can from this end, and hopefully he will be able to test negative and be cleared and approved for discharge as soon as he's well again.

Since receiving the news, we've organised support for Tim and have also - via the players association, been in contact with his family to ensure they're kept fully informed and updated on developments."
