IPL 2022: Punjab Kings retained the Indian opener and an uncapped player ahead of the mega auction

The 8 existing franchises have started to announce their retentions ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. The board has given the final dates for the teams that they should announce their retained players on November 30th, Tuesday.

Punjab Kings had decided that they will be staying with only two players ahead of IPL 2022. The team had a decent outing in the previous edition of the tournament as some of their main players like Nicholas Pooran and a few more have been failed to contribute to the team.

However, KL Rahul was the lone warrior for the Punjab-based franchise who did his role well with the bat and gave all he had for the team. With the deadline been given by the IPL board, Punjab Kings have announced their retentions ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Punjab Kings have retained only two players:

According to the recent reports from ESPNCricinfo, the source added that Punjab Kings have retained Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh before the mega auction of IPL 2022.

The Karnataka born batsman Mayank Agarwal has accumulated 441 runs in the previous season of the cash-rich contest that he played at an average of 40.09 and has a good strike rate of 140.44.

Coming to Arshdeep Singh, the youngster has impressed the selectors with his fabulous bowling performance in IPL 2021. He went on to feature in 12 matches for Punjab Kings where he scalped 18 wickets despite being expensive with the ball.

The 22-year-old will be retained as an uncapped player who will get a sum of INR 4 crores ahead of the IPL 2022. So, it is clear that Mayank Agarwal will continue to open the innings for Punjab Kings whereas Arshdeep Singh will don the jersey with scintillating bowling skills.
