IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians likely to bid for Ex-Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2022 mega auction

The mega auction ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to commence in a few days. The board reported that 8 teams from IPL should announce their retentions before 30th November.

Moreover, the two ned added franchise will retain their players after the announcement of the 8 remaining franchises. Coming to the point, there have been plenty of reports that the five-time champion Mumbai Indians is likely to rope Shreyas Iyer who previously represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.

Since 2015, the Delhi born batsman represented the franchise in the cash-rich contest but the team doesn't look interested in him as they might go ahead with Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, Axar Patel and Prithvi Shaw.

Mumbai Indians eyeing on Shreyas Iyer:

If the reports are to be believed, we can witness the right-handed batsman in the mega auction of IPL 2022 with some decent amount on the cards. Notably, the 26-year-old is a regular fixture in the Indian cricket team and also made his Test debut with a bang by smashing a hundred and fifty in both the innings he played against New Zealand.

Moreover, he also led Delhi Capitals to the finals of IPL 2020 where they lost to the Rohit-led Mumbai Indians. "While Mumbai Indians are also reportedly interested in picking Shreyas at the auction, at least one other existing franchise too want him since he is being seen as captaincy material," a source claimed.

Moreover, considering some other reports from Telegraph, the source concluded that the Mumbai based franchise has already been in talks with Shreyas Iyer for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

Since Mumbai Indians have many star players on the cards, it would be quite difficult for them to name the four-player that they are going to retain ahead of the mega auction of IPL 2022.
