IPL 2021: Mustafizur Rahman to miss the first game against Punjab Kings

 

Ahead of the upcoming edition of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals have been hit by another huge blow. Earlier, the England pacer sustained an injury and may not play the first four games. 

As per reports, the Rajasthan franchise will not be having the services of Mustafizur Rahman in the opening game against Punjab Kings on 12th April. The pacer from Bangladesh has recently played the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. 

He is likely to land in Bangladesh on 4th April. Even if he takes flight to India on the very next day, he has to be in quarantine for seven days. Hence, they won't have both their premium pacers against Punjab. 

Mustafizur Rahman might miss the second game as well: 

If the reports are to believed, the left-arm pacer unlikely to play the second game as well. He will be in contention for the match if he can serve the quarantine period without any interruption. 

Rahman made his IPL debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016 after his heroics against India. He has also won the 'Emerging Player of the Season' award in his debut season. 

He then moved to Mumbai Indians before joining Rajasthan Royals in 2021. The Rajasthan based IPL franchise yet to touch the trophy after winning the inaugural season in 2008. 

Last season, they started the season with back to back wins. But, they lost their form and finished at the bottom in the points table. They appointed Sanju Samson as their skipper for the IPl 2021.
