IPL 2021: Chris Lynn to replace Quinton de Kock for the first encounter against RCB

 

The opening match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is going to be played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore have played 29 games with each other till now. Mumbai has won 19 games whereas RCB has won only 10 games they played against them.

Moreover, when these two teams face each other, there will be a big flow of runs as both the teams have a solid batting line-up on the cards. Rohit's army will be looking to clinch the title and make the record of winning the trophy for the successive three years in the history of IPL.

Virat and his men on the other hand are yet to lay their hands on the trophy since the inaugural edition of the league. However, both teams will look forward to starting with a win in the first game.

Quinton de Kock to miss the first game against RCB

The left-handed batsman Quinton de Kock will miss the opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore today. The 28-year-old joined the Mumbai Indians camp a few days before after representing his nation against Pakistan.

According to the reports, de Kock has to remain behind the doors for a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The South African batsman has scored 503 runs in the last season at an average of 35.92 with a healthy strike rate of well above 140.

In addition to that, de Kock has good numbers in his IPL career who has scored 1959 runs from 66 games at an average of 31.59 including a hundred to his name. Mumbai Indians will miss the services of the left-hander in the first game.

Chris Lynn to replace de Kock for the first match

The destroying Australian batsman Chris Lynn joined with Mumbai Indians in the previous season. Unfortunately, Chris Lynn who was once a regular name on the KKR side didn't play a single match in the 13th edition of the league.

Lynn would be expecting to play his first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore and has to prove himself on the note.

The right-handed batsman has played 41 matches in IPL and scored 1280 runs at a decent average of 33.68 with a strike rate of well above 140. We all know that  Chris Lynn can destroy any best bowling line-up once he gets back to his form.
