"Kane Williamson can't bat at a strike rate of 100" - Wasim Jaffer

The skipper of the New Zealand cricket team and Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kane Williamson is one among the fab four batters of the modern era. In this edition of IPL, the right-handed batter has crossed the 2000 runs landmark and will be looking to achieve more in the upcoming days.

Despite scoring a lot of runs, Kane Williamson has not been able to deliver consistent performance for his team in this ongoing season. He often failed to convert the starts that he gets in the powerplay overs.

Moreover, the Kiwi batter has to perform well in the upcoming games, as they tasted one more defeat against Delhi Capitals. In this season, he opens the innings with the young batter Abhishek Sharma who likes to play aggressive cricket and is keen to give flying starts to his side.

There is an inexperienced batting line-up: Wasim Jaffer

The former Indian cricketers Deep Dasgupta and Wasim Jaffer have shared their thoughts in a recent interaction with CricTracker's 'Not Just Cricket' show presented by Sky247.net.

"He has batted for a while but hasn’t batted aggressively, which has been the problem. I don’t see anybody else as an opener, as Tripathi has done well at number three.

He is just batting conservatively and wants to take the responsibility to take the game till the 15th over by himself. After Nicholas Pooran, there is an inexperienced batting line-up, which puts a little bit of pressure on the top-order to score the bulk of runs.

He is such an important player in the line-up and can’t be batting at a strike rate of 100," Wasim Jaffer was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

Following him, Deep Dasgupta has also shared his views on Kane Williamson, saying, "It seems a little different for Kane this year, because of his elbow injury, and has missed a lot of cricket for the last year and a half.

Not sure if he has completely recovered from the injury or not. I could have understood Williamson playing the way in the first two games, where other batters weren’t contributing enough. But, now he can afford to play more freely when others are doing well."

After getting defeated by Delhi Capitals in the previous encounter, Kane Williamson and his men will be looking to make a strong comeback in the upcoming games to stay alive in this contest.
