"So I gave it to him" Dinesh Karthik opens up an instance with Rohit Sharma

The right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma is regarded as one of the greatest openers of modern-day cricket. Rohit Sharma plays a vital role for his team and opens up in all three aspects of the game. In his earlier days, he couldn't cement his place in the side as he didn't get enough chances to prove his worth with the bat.

But the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni made a breakthrough in his career and promoted him to the top-order. Since then, he never broke down and continued to dominate the opposition bowlers with his hefty blows all around the park.

Moreover, he is the kind of batsman who can demolish even 140+ kmph deliveries to the fence. Besides, the wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has revealed an enthralling thing about the opening batsman's maiden fifty.

So I gave it to him: Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik had exchanged a few words with Gourav Kapoor during the Breakfast with Champions show. He recalled the incident which took place in the inaugural edition of ICC T20 World Cup 2007. During a game against South Africa, Rohit Sharma played an instrumental role with MS Dhoni and both of them added an 85-runs partnership.

After the wicket of the Indian skipper, Dinesh Karthik joined with him and then the instance came in. Rohit Sharma scored his main fifty with Dinesh Karthik's willow which the latter got proud of him. "His first-ever international fifty was with my bat. I am very proud of that. Yeah, I was batting with it, I told Rohit, ‘What a s*** bat’ and he said, ‘What? You think this bat is not good enough? Give it to me," Karthik said.

"So I gave it to him. That day (need to give him credit) he just walked in straight with the bat in South Africa during World Cup and he played amazing innings. No credit to my bat, obviously the batsman but still. I remember all those kinds of things and these kinds of things mean a lot to me," he added.
